At HCISD we have some of the most dedicated and hard-working teachers, administrators, students, staff, and community. Each has a part to play in the success of our district as it takes the collaborative efforts of many to carry forth our mission. 

As we transform Harlingen CISD, our goal, our purpose, and the reason that we exist is to provide our students with a quality education grounded on strong character. In this Experience HCISD issue, we introduce two exciting additions to our specialty schools - Lee Means Elementary Fine Arts Academy and Harlingen STEM2 Preparatory Academy. Built on a strong academic core, these new choices and opportunities will give younger students an edge in the areas of Fine Arts, STEM and medicine.

None of this could have been possible without the support of our award­ winning Board of Trustees who, for the third time in four years, were recognized as an Outstanding School Board by the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program. I continue to see firsthand the countless hours our board members volunteer to advance the work in our schools. This speaks volumes of their everlasting commitment to the students of our district.
