The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District held an Administrator Kickoff to prepare for the upcoming school year. The day-long event is an annual tradition which brings together administrators from every campus and department across the district to plan and prepare for a successful new school year.
The event began with motivational welcome-back messages from Board President Greg Powers, HCISD Board Members, and district administrators. Dr. J.A. Gonzalez shared a reflection on his first year as Superintendent of Schools in Harlingen.
“This is my 30th year in education, and I’m grateful to be in this community,” Dr. Gonzalez said. “I am proud to be here because you want every child to reach their full potential and you are leading forward. We stand on the shoulders of giants. Many superintendents, principals, assistant principals, coaches, directors, and executive directors came before us. That is 114 years of tradition, and we are working for their legacy too.”
Throughout the day, administrators celebrated champions throughout the district, participated in discussions, and took part in team bonding activities that encouraged collaboration and camaraderie.
As the new school year approaches, the district is well-prepared to welcome back teachers, students, and staff and is excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year with learning and growth.
