Dual Enrollment Information
The dual credit option allows students to earn college credit with courses that have been approved for high school credit. Dr. Cano Freshman Academy currently offers Music Appreciation & Public Speaking courses for college credit. The partnering institution that offers these courses to our students is Texas Southmost College in Brownsville.
8th graders that are transitioning to Dr. Cano Freshman Academy will be offered the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) at their middle school. Students that meet the requirements and are "college ready" based on TSI scores will be able to enroll in these courses at CFA.
9th graders that are transitioning to HHS & HHSS will have the option to take the TSI at Dr. Cano Freshman Academy and complete the required paperwork to enroll in dual enrollment courses as sophomores.
